And here we are at the beach in 2011. Jamie and I hadn't seen each other for about 7 years. It had been way too long.
I also got to see Bethany. And Jamie's whole family. It was such a fun party, and they were so good to us.
Here's Jamie's dad with Felix. That little baby made a lot of friends.
Both of my boys really loved the beach. I knew that Beckett would, but I was worried that Felix would be miserable. He wasn't at all. He loved all the people smiling at him. He loved the breeze. He loved that someone was holding him for almost the entire day. He loved that he got to sleep in my arms outside. But he didn't love the water. I stuck his feet in and he curled his legs up. Isn't Felix's rash guard awesome? It has a zipper so I can actually get it over his enormous head. The hood is genius, and the little frog eyes are super cute.

Beckett could not get enough of the ocean. He played for so long in the surf with Nate and every time Nate asked him if we wanted to come up onto the beach to see Mom and baby Felix he replied, "No, no. More Ocean, Dad." That's probably what he's saying in this picture.

Another awesome thing about our beach trip was that it made us feel really spontaneous. Nate came home on Friday night, and after we ate dinner he said, "how fast could we get ready for this beach trip?" We packed up and were on the road in an hour.
I'm really excited that we live relatively close to the beach. It's a great little trip for my family. On our way home from the beach we got a bunch of calls from friends asking us how we were doing and informing us that church was cancelled on Sunday. Come to find out we were among the millions in the DC area who had lost their power due to high winds during a thunderstorm. We didn't have power for three days. We were glad we were in Ocean City for the first 24 hours. The next couple days were quite the adventure. We slept in the basement and spent all afternoon at friends' houses with power. We ate a lot of peanut butter sandwiches. We got our power back at 5:30 on my birthday. Although I would have preferred no power outage, it was a pretty good present.

It was so fun to see you guys! Thanks for coming!
So fun! I was just wishing the other day for someone to talk to about tv characters that are not real. Then I remembered that it's against the rules to talk about tv characters as if they are real. Since they're not. Miss you girls!
They are so cute at the beach! Too bad we all live so far from each other... Felix and Bennett would have so much fun together!
I wholeheartedly agree that living near the ocean is fantastic ... although I'm a quick 15 minute drive through the suburbs.
