Not too much has been going on here, as evident from the lack of blog posts. The down time has given us plenty of time to catch up on season one of Heroes. Nate and I watched the whole season in the last few weeks on Netflix. We have been very entertained. However, despite all the super powers and the attempts to save the world, Heroes has an extremely high body count. So, in the tradition of the Roswell Cemetery that my roommates and I made back in 2001, I give you the Heroes Cemetery. Here lie all the dead from season one. May they rest in peace.

I can hear you now. You are thinking, "JoLee, you are a Ph.D. student. Don't you have better things to do with your time than make this silly cemetery?" The answer to that question is yes.

Very lovely. And in color! Although I have to say, there's a certain charm in a cemetery drawn with different-colored markers on a little whiteboard on a refrigerator.
Yes, it's much easier to add tombs to a whiteboard. Or, if we were to find out suddenly that someone hadn't really died, it would be equally easy to erase his tomb. The real reason that I didn't use a whiteboard this time around is because I don't have one.
I love that you recognize you should be doing something better, but that is what is so wonderful about the cemetery. It is something you wanted to do...no matter how silly someone else might think it is.
Ah, the Roswell cemetery -- I had nearly forgotten about that. Do you remember our rules on the whiteboard?
I only remember two of them:
*Be nice to Sarah.
*The people on tv are not real people, so don't talk about them like they are.
Sadly, I still struggle with that. I have missed watching Heroes. And I am still bummed that there's no premiere date for the new season of 24. My life is not ruled by tv. I promise. I just really like those two shows.
A couple of the other rules on the whiteboard were:
"A lot can happen in 8 months"
"Some people are much more, ever so much more, so muchly much much more unlucky than you."
The second is of course, Dr. Seuss. I had forgotten those two rules that you mentioned. Thanks for reminding me. Oh, how often I wish I had thought to take a picture of all the funny quotes on our whiteboards or at least thought to write them down!
Love it, love it, love it! Thank you for the smile today, it was pretty funny!
Well, I've never heard of Heroes but I've liked everything else you've suggested I read or watch. I do like the poster-especially the flower..adds a nice touch.
I remember the most famous quote on the whiteboard: "I'd rather get married than take a bath." Courtesy of moi.
I had forgotten those other rules! And that quote, Jess. That's a good one, but I don't remember where it came from. I also can't remember why we had the one about a lot can happen in 8 months. Do you guys remember?
What! You are kidding right? You must remember the rule about how a lot can happen in 8 months. I believe it was something that your dad said ...
Jess' quote refers to the time when we watched "What Lies Beneath" and then Shane told her he would pay her five dollars if she took a bath. He had also told Amber that he would pay her 5 dollars if she got married before the end of the semester. Hence, Jess saying she'd rather get married than take a bath.
This is fabulous! I never saw the Roswell one. This is excellent. Also, I'm a fan of the second rule Sarah mentioned. I think I may need to take that one to heart. Good work.
By the way, who's Thompson?
Thompson was that guy that Bennett killed when he and Parkman were on their way to take out the tracking device.
I remember the "rather get married than take a bath" rule now. I remember we did some funny things after watching "What Lies Beneath."
I know I was a little nervous to go in the bathroom by myself for the first little bit after seeing the movie. And I've never watched it again, either.
I still don't remember the 8 month thing. Sheesh. I am getting forgetful in my old age! Was it something about marriage? That would be logical if it came from my dad, who was a huge proponent of hurrying up and getting married when I was in college. Maybe that's why I stayed single until I was 25, unlike all the rest of my siblings. (Well, Michael excepted. He and his girlfriend, also named Sarah, have a little boy named Jackson. So he's not legally married, but... he has always been a special case. He says hi, by the way!) I need to get your e-mail address. I shouldn't keep leaving these insanely long comments. :) Or you can e-mail me, if you want. My address is sarah.lewis@charter.net.
