Beckett is 3

Beckett is 3! I can hardly believe it. This kid has grown up so much this last year. 3 was a really fun birthday because it was the first one that Beckett could really understand. He kept talking about cakes and candles and saying "I am three."

Beckett still loves trains just as much (if not more) than he did when he turned two. I thought it would be fun to take him on a little birthday outing to Wheaton Regional Park so we could ride the miniature train. Here he is waiting in line. He's so excited to see the train.
Just after this picture was taken the train broke down. They couldn't get the train into the station and all the passengers had to hike through the grass. Total bust. Here's the train we were supposed to ride.
Beckett dealt with the disappointment really well. He kept telling us that the train was broken and it needed to be fixed, but we had no tears and no whining. We left the line and went to play on the huge playground and eat our picnic lunch.
Wheaton Regional Park has a crazy huge playground with lots of fun stuff for bigger kids.
Beckett liked climbing on this mountain.
I was impressed that he'd go down the super huge slide.
He showed off his skills on the rope bridge.
We used our train tickets to ride the old-fashioned carousel. It was Beckett's first time on one (mostly because his parents do not like spinny rides). He loved it. He kept saying "Riding a horse. Goin' up and down, Mom!"
We were disappointed about the train, but Wheaton Regional Park is definitely a fun place to visit.

Birthday presents!
Birthday dinner.
B had a loaf of banana bread for his cake. He seriously loves that stuff.
Look at this kid! He's turned into a little boy.
P.S. The little boy is not so little. He's 41 inches tall, off the charts for height, and, at 34 pounds, in the 74% percentile for weight.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sean Danaher

Perhaps because we are a little crazy, but mostly because we really, really didn't want to miss it, we drove all the way to Alabama for Sean's wedding.

Day 1: We drove to Chattanooga. It took us twelve hours. We stayed the night (a brief 12 hours) with my cousin Wendy and her family.
Day 2: We drove three hours to the Birmingham, Alabama temple. After the wedding we drove 90 minutes to Huntsville for the reception.
Day 3: We drove nine hours to some random hotel in Virginia.
Day 4: We drove three hours to home.

Keep in mind that we have a three month old baby. Seriously folks, this was no small undertaking. Let it stand as a testament to how much we love Sean and the whole Danaher family. Sean's like a brother to me, and you can't miss your brother's wedding.

So, without further ado, here's the happy couple!
I think Beckett was just about as happy as Sean and Clair.
All because he got to hang out with Grandpa.
This is the new "Climb Up Grandpa" game.
Beckett's enthusiasm could not be contained. When you are that happy you have to do laps around the temple.

Here are best men, Brandon and Taggart. Otherwise known as the Men in Black.
Felix slept through a good portion of the wedding festivities.
The reception was held at one of the most famous spots in Huntsville. Space Camp!
During the dancing portion of the reception, Nate and the boys toured.
Saturn V
Pathfinder
The next morning we had a little bit of time to spend with the family.
Felix with his Grammy.
And after one more night on the road, we made it home in one piece. I think that everyone had a pretty good time.
Congratulations again, Sean and Clair!

Grandma Dorothy's Visit

Nate's mom came out to visit a couple weeks ago. It was the best visit ever, with lots of relaxation and a couple fun excursions.

Dorothy let me get lots of sleep, and she took Beckett out everyday. He was so well behaved while she was here that I have decided I need to really make getting him out of the house everyday my top priority. He needs to run out his energy.

At the park with Grandma.
We took a trip to Fort McHenry on Memorial Day. They were flying a flag the size of the Star Spangled Banner. It was huge, and a park ranger told us that the flag was really only a medium size flag for the time period. Apparently they made really big flags in the 1800s.

We also went to the Baltimore Zoo. In April and May members of the B&O Railroad Museum can get into the zoo for free! We ate lunch while we watched the elephants. This one dunked his entire head under water.
Felix brought his zebra blanket to the zoo.
Beckett climbed into this kid-sized oriole nest.
We spent lots of time hanging out at home with the boys. They sure love their grandma.
