On to Colorado

After ten days in California we weren't ready for the party to be over. And it wasn't. We spent ten days in Colorado with my family.

For the few few days we hung out at home playing with Grammy's toys. Felix tried out the Step 'N Play piano. It was his first time in an exersaucer-type toy.
This classic Fisher Price garage was a huge hit. The tower in the background is also a favorite.
We had a picnic at Monument Valley Park. Beckett got to see four trains while we were there.
I went to see my friend Rebecca from high school. Rebecca and I ran cross country and track together. We spent a lot of time pounding the pavement together. We also went to a lot of stake dances and all those cross country parties. It had been years since we'd seen each other, but now she lives really close to my parents, so I'm hoping to see her much more often.
Rebecca's boys are so cute. They introduced Beckett to the wonderful world of digging in your backyard. (We don't have a backyard.)
The party really got going once Paige and Peter and their boys arrived. We decided to go check out the county fair.
We saw lots of animals. Beckett loved the petting zoo. (Andrew, not so much.) The animal races were hilarious. I've been to fairs where they race pigs. The pigs are all very fast and focused. At this fair all kinds of animals raced. Some were good and some were, well, not so good. Andrew was really good at picking winners. We chose to cheer for the pig, and then he got to be a cheer leader and wave this green flag. His goat won.
Pigs are great racers. Some goats are pretty quick too. The sheep were fast and then slow and then fast and then slow. It took a chicken five races to get around the track. once. If you want to win, don't cheer for the birds.
Beckett wore a pair of my sunglasses and my mom's old hat. Doesn't he look awesome?

After the animal races, we went to the alligator show. (Yes, they had one of the those.) It was mostly a factual presentation. Of course, I can't actually remember anything we learned about alligators now, but I do remember this crazy trick. How to tie an alligator's mouth shut when you are all alone. Don't try this at home, folks.

I'm so glad we were able to see you while you were town. And I wish we would have checked out the fair, it looks like fun.
