Greater Kansas City Temple
I know that most of the excitement regarding President Monson's announcement of temples centered around the one to be built in Rome, but for those of us living in Kansas all we heard was that a temple would, at long last, be built in the greater Kansas City area. We were so elated at the news that we had to rewind the broadcast to hear the announcement about Rome. Our city has 10+ stakes in the area, yet is still 3+ hours from the nearest temple. I have no idea where the temple will be built, but with the unique description that it would be in the greater Kansas City area, I'm hoping that it will be built on our side of the state line.

I'm hoping it is in Lenexa. That would sure be convenient, wouldn't it?! ;) I am VERY happy for you guys, too bad it didn't happen when we lived there, right? Maybe we'll have to move back and take advantage of it!
That's awesome! Nothing like appreciating the temple until it's far away.
I was so excited for you guys!
Don't worry, I was more excited about your temple than Rome. I definately cheered.
I thought of you when I heard that announcement. It was an exciting day, one in Philadelphia, Sarah and Shawn were particularly excited about that one, and then Rome! Yeah for the first temple in New Testament land. I am glad that you guys will have one near but I bet you miss those road trips to Nebraska. :)
I am so excited for you! How nice would it be to have a temple so close! I wonder if it will be in the independence area? Isn't there supposed to be a temple built there at sometime?
It looks like Missouri is going to get its second temple after all. Earlier today the church announced that the Kansas City temple would be in Clay County (North of the river) in a development known as Shoal Creek, which is located just west of Liberty, Missouri.
